Development Officer - Dublin Area

Each Development Officer is responsible for a specific territory and for reaching a target number of students in this territory annually in accordance with Junior Achievement’s strategic plan. To reach this target number of students the Development Officer must work to tight deadlines while maintaining a very high quality standard.

Key accountabilities:

Relationship Management: Building and maintaining effective relationships with a specific number of supporting organisations and schools in the territory. Each supporting organisation nominates a link person internally who acts as the JA point of contact. Events are a big part of ensuring that we are profiled within organization so event management is a key skill.

Training: Planning, scheduling and conducting training sessions for every volunteer and teacher in his/her territory. This must be done to JA’s high standard and within tight deadlines (school terms). Each Development Officer will have a specific number of volunteers and teachers to recruit and train each year to achieve his/her overall student number target.

PR & Events: Develop relationships with local media and raise JA’s profile locally. Responsible for meeting the Marketing & PR Plan for the territory which includes newspaper articles, radio interviews, class visits and school to work days. Work on events in the territory. Organisation of events to highlight the success of the Junior Achievement programmes in the area, ie school to work days, launches, competitions, etc.

Development Officers are fully trained in every aspect of the role and all areas of the job are detailed in Junior Achievement’s Operating Manual.

Qualifications

This position needs a team player with considerable initiative; it requires a multitasker with “self-starter” ability. Must be able to work to targets with minimum supervision.

  • Third level qualification
  • Excellent organisational ability
  • Excellent communication skills, confident and with the ability to conduct training seminars
  • Ability to manage specific projects
  • Interest in the education sector and enjoy working with young people
  • Must have full driving licence and access to a car
